Ingredients
Every ingredient in both products: how much is in it, how its evidence rates, and one line on what that rating means. Each name links to a page that sets out the actual research — the trials, their size, and where they run out. Including the ones where the answer is unflattering.
We publish every dose, every source and every gap in the evidence — including the ones that don't flatter us — because we think that is what a supplement brand owes the people taking it.
Two different things are being measured, and they are not interchangeable. Ingredients with a letter are graded on our own A–E scale, which counts human trials on the material we actually use. Ingredients with a number are vitamins and minerals, and the number is how many health claims for that nutrient have passed formal scientific assessment in Great Britain. A letter and a number are not comparable — cranberry grades A and has no authorised claim at all. Neither is the evidence itself. A rating is a summary of it; the research behind each one — which trials, how large, and where they stop — is on the ingredient page, and every name in the table below links to it.
Belle Balance
One 8g sachet daily. Figures per sachet.
| Ingredient | Dose | Grade or claims | What that rating means · full research on each page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inositolmyo-inositol | 4,000 mg | A | The dose used across the published human research. Some UK inositol supplements carry 2,000mg or less. No authorised claim exists for inositol — two were refused. |
| Magnesiumas glycinate | 150 mg | 10 | 40% NRV. Ten assessed claims. 150mg of the mineral arrives inside roughly 1,064mg of compound, which is the number some labels choose instead. |
| Vitamin Cascorbic acid | 80 mg | 15 | 100% NRV. Fifteen assessed claims, of which fourteen are available to us — one requires 200mg a day and we do not make it. |
| Vitamin B6as P5P | 2.1 mg | 10 | 150% NRV. Ten assessed claims. Deliberately small: the tolerable upper intake level is 12mg a day from all sources. |
| Chromiumas picolinate | 100 µg | 2 | 250% NRV, which is 0.1mg. The claim we use: “Chromium contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism.” The weakest case of anything in the product, and the page says so. |
| Cranberry extract25.1% proanthocyanidins | 150 mg | A | 37.65mg of proanthocyanidins by BL-DMAC (the manufacturer’s figure for the extract). No authorised claim. |
| Rhodiola rosea3% rosavins, 1% salidroside | 300 mg | C | Human trials exist on standardised extracts, but on proprietary material we do not use. A claim for it was formally assessed and refused. |
| ShatavariAsparagus racemosus | 200 mg | C | Ours is a generic extract standardised by our manufacturer to at least 10% shatavarins. No claim is made for it. |
Femme Flora
Two capsules daily. Figures per daily serving.

| Live cultureseight species, counts published | 50 bn CFU | C | Every species has human trial evidence; none of it was produced on our strains. Every strain named and every count printed, which only one of the nine competitors we reviewed does, and it is not sold in the UK. |
| Xylo-oligosaccharidesfrom corncob | 250 mg | C | A prebiotic fibre. The researched intakes are closer to 1.4g a day. Ours sits below them, as a companion to the cultures, with no standalone claim. |
| Cranberry extract25.1% proanthocyanidins | 150 mg | A | Same extract and dose as Belle Balance. 37.65mg of proanthocyanidins by BL-DMAC. |
| Riboflavinvitamin B2 | 1.4 mg | 9 | 100% NRV. Nine assessed claims. The reason B-vitamin supplements turn urine bright yellow, which is harmless and expected. |
| Niacinas nicotinamide | 16 mg | 6 | 100% NRV. Six assessed claims. Nicotinamide does not cause the skin flush that nicotinic acid does, which is why it is the form we use. |
| Biotinvitamin B7 | 50 µg | 7 | 100% NRV. Seven assessed claims. High-dose biotin interferes with some blood tests; ours is one to two hundred times below those doses. |
| Vitamin D3cholecalciferol | 5 µg | 7 | 100% NRV. Seven assessed claims. ⚠ NHS advice for the UK winter is 10µg a day, so this alone does not meet it. |
The two scales, properly
A to E — what we grade ourselves on
- AMultiple human randomised trials on this exact ingredient, at this dose and form
- BOne human randomised trial on this exact ingredient, dose and form
- CHuman trials exist on the substance, but not on the version we use
- DPatent, laboratory or animal evidence only
- ENo evidence located
The numbers — assessed claims
Vitamins and minerals are not graded A to E. A health claim for them has either been through formal scientific assessment in Great Britain or it has not, and the number in the table is how many have. That is a different question from how many trials exist, and a higher bar than our own scale measures.
The two do not line up, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Cranberry grades A and has not one authorised claim. Chromium has the thinnest case of anything in the product. A claim is a regulatory status. A grade is a count of trials. Neither one tells you the other.
What this page does not cover
- The capsule shell, the carrier and the excipients. Belle Balance uses a carrier to bulk an 8g sachet; Femme Flora uses a vegan capsule. Neither is an active ingredient and neither has a page.
- Flavouring. Belle Balance is cranberry-flavoured, which is a flavour and not the cranberry extract in the table above. They are different things and the pack lists both.
- Anything we have stopped using. This page describes what is in the products now.
